We are currently receiving a large number of applications for data submission, and the review process is taking longer than usual. We sincerely apologize for the delay and kindly ask for your understanding. When submitting an application, we would greatly appreciate it if you could allow sufficient time for the processing.

Following a change to our organizational structure effective April 1, 2026, this division has been renamed from the "Database Center for Life Science, Joint Support-Center for Data Science Research" to the "Database Division for Life Science (DBCLS), BioData Science Initiative (BSI), National Institute of Genetics (NIG)". Where the former name still appears in the guidelines, please read it as the new name.

Research title

Epigenomic analysis of the human placenta and endometrium constituting the fetal-maternal interface

Research overview

Aims
As a member of the International Human Epigenome Consortium (IHEC), we obtain high-quality standard epigenome profiles of placenta tissue from Japanese donors, and open the data to public to promote basic research in human epigenome.
Methods
PBAT-seq, ChIP-seq, RNA-seq, and small RNA-seq
Participants/materials
placenta (cytotrophoblast [normal/CT, fetal growth restriction/FGR-CT, preeclampsia/PE-CT, trisomy 18/Tri-18-CT], syncytiotrophoblast [ST], extravillous trophoblast [EVT], trophoblast stem cells [TS] derived from female/male CT, ST differentiated from TS, EVT differentiated from TS, stroma), uterus (endometrium epithelial, stroma), hydatidiform mole
