We are currently receiving a large number of applications for data submission, and the review process is taking longer than usual. We sincerely apologize for the delay and kindly ask for your understanding. When submitting an application, we would greatly appreciate it if you could allow sufficient time for the processing.

Following a change to our organizational structure effective April 1, 2026, this division has been renamed from the "Database Center for Life Science, Joint Support-Center for Data Science Research" to the "Database Division for Life Science (DBCLS), BioData Science Initiative (BSI), National Institute of Genetics (NIG)". Where the former name still appears in the guidelines, please read it as the new name.

Research title

Development of cell lines and mouse models of bone and soft tissue sarcoma to establish novel treatment

Research overview

Aims
Sarcomas are classified as rare cancers, that is, cancers with an incidence of 6/100000 patients per year. The prognosis of rare cancers, including sarcomas, is poorer than that of common cancers because of the lack of effective treatment. One of the reasons is that the biological resources of sarcomas are not sufficient for advanced research. Therefore, we are establishing several types of sarcomas recapitulating biological characteristics of them including cell lines, organoids, and mouse models in order to develop effective novel treatment against sarcomas.
Methods
RNA sequencing, Whole-exome sequencing
Participants/materials
giant cell tumor of bone: 1 case, chondrosarcoma: 2 cases, synovial sarcoma: 3 cases, histiocytic sarcoma: 1 case
