Research title

Elucidation of disease state by multi-layered omics analysis

Research overview

Aims
To elucidate the genetic predisposition to metabolic syndrome-related diseases such as diabetes and the genetic predisposition to reactivity and side effects of diabetes drugs in Japanese people, and to apply this to the prevention of diabetes and personalized medicine.
Methods
We profiled serum metabolites of persons with type 2 diabetes (T2D) with or without diabetic complications using a comprehensive non-targeted metabolomics approach with mass spectrometry. The abundance of the 364 serum metabolites was compared between the T2D patients with multiple complications (N = 141) and those without any complications (N = 159), then calculated the summary statistics.
